Vegan Cycling Trip in Prague/Berlin/Poland

It’s been oh so long since I’ve actually written anything on this blog, reorganized my photos and pages, and fixed up the site design like I said I was going to months ago. But things keep coming up (fun things!) and all that will just have to wait a bit longer.

The fun thing that I’m planning for right now is…a cycling trip in Eastern Europe!

I will be flying to Prague this Saturday (with my bicycle and all my gear) and my friend Aga will meet me a few days later. We don’t have any strict plans really, but we know that we’ll start by cycling up to Berlin (making some stops along the way to visit friends and see cool places like this land bridge), then we’ll head into Szczecin, then around Poland to see forests, national parks, rivers, and friends and family. We have lots of ideas of places we want to go, but aren’t sure how they’ll all fall into place just yet. We have 2 months to wander around…camping and couchsurfing along the way…so we’ll see how it goes. And I’ll be bringing a travel stove with me so that I can stay well fed (and vegan) while on the road. :)

In preparation for this trip, I came across a site that proved to be a good cycling tour resource. I’ll post a more extensive list of tips and links when I return from my journey, but for now…this site is great for planning a long distance bicycle tour. There is a downloadable bicycle touring survival guide, lots of informative tips, and just heaps of inspiration from other travelers who choose to see the world from a bicycle seat. I was thrilled to learn that they also have a podcast (oh how I love podcasts).

Anyway, wish me a safe journey!
